Changing laws
The government of the Netherlands and the
EU are making new regulations related to the use of antibiotics in the animal
husbandry sector. Between 2009 and 2013 the antibiotic use in the Netherlands
decreased with 50%. In 2015 the Dutch government wants to decrease the use of
antibiotics with 70% in comparison to 2009. Since January 2013 veterinarians
are obligated to do a bacterial test before applying 3th and 4th
generation antibiotics. Farmers are not allowed to use the same amount of
antibiotics as before 2009. By reducing the use of antibiotics the amount of
sick animals and diseases is not going down. Therefor farmers need an
alternative for the antibiotics. Finding alternatives for antibiotics is not
easy. AvA (Alternatieven voor Antibiotica) is a company who is willing to help
farmers with finding the right kind of alternative for antibiotics. This is
where we want to open a new market opportunity for farmers and the alternative
industry.
